Police managed to catch 20 tons of drugs, reports Minister of Internal Affairs, Tarek El Aissa. Drug was discovered during a police operation on board of the ship heading to the Veracruz port (Mexico). Containers filled in with a liquid with dissolved cocaine, occupied all the holds.
"Despite the fact that the exact concentration of the drug in the liquid is currently being calculated by experts, and the exact weight of the pure" powder "is unknown, in this case, we can safely say that this is the largest drug batch ever intercepted by the police of Venezuela" - Itar-Tass says. For the smuggling of drugs three crew members are detained. Two of them are citizens of Colombia.
In Venezuela, similar operations monitoring the supply chain of drugs and arresting couriers are managed by the special department of the Interior Ministry - paramilitary police, known as the Bolivarian National Guard. The work of this division is more than successful. Last year they had confiscated 42 thousand kilograms of narcotics, 26 thousand kg of which is cocaine.
