Afghanistan asks Russia’s help to make the struggle against drug trafficking more rigorous

19.07.2012

At a recent meeting of the head of the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation with his Afghani collegues, the participants discussed mutually beneficial cooperation in struggle against drug trafficking and drug distribution in the world. During the negotiations, Fadl-ul-Hadi Muslim Yar, the speaker of the upper house of Afghani parliament asked Russia to let bygones be bygones and consolidate their efforts to withstand criminal groups developing drug trafficking and sponsoring terrorism. Mr. Muslim Yar also notes that it’s necessary to stop discussing each other’s mistakes and to start providing mutual support. Also he called the world community to help Afghanistan to raise its economy and increase the efficiency of the struggle against drugs. “Destruction of centralized administration and lack of distinct laws during armed hostilities in our country resulted in significant increase in the volume of opium poppy crops. But it’s necessary to realize that the people of Afghanistan do not produce drugs out of poppy. They just don’t have such techniques! I’m sure that the further drug production is carried out by international criminal organizations, it’s in their interests. That’s why I call the whole world to unite and give battle to those criminals!” Mr. Muslim Yar said.
