Summer Olympic Games 2012: off-schedule doping tests

26.07.2012

International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) makes  doping tests more frequent before the Summer Olympic Games 2012 in London using new advanced detection methods.

By this moment, nine track and field athletes have been suspended by the IAAF. Totally, at least 107 people were banned from taking part in qualifying competitions for doping in different sports. Their doping test samples were found positive.

It’s still unknown what countries represented the athletes who failed their drug tests. However, there is some information that they may include representatives of Russia, Ukraine and Marocco.

John Fahey, the President of the World Anti-Doping Agency says: "Anyone who thinks they can get away with cheating here may be very, very unhappy at the end of these Games".

We remind that the 2012 Summer Olympic Games will be held in London from 27 July to 12 August 2012.
