Two tons of marijuana found at a Mexican cemetery

30.07.2012

Two tons of marijuana have been found at a Mexican cemetery. During a special operation, soldiers found a hideout containing 2 tons of marijuana.

Parcels with the drug had been hidden in niches of massive tombstones. This fact complicated the process of detection. Currently, it’s still unknown what drug cartel kept the drugs in such an unusual place.

The drugs were found as a a result of "Operation Northeast” directed to significant intensification of the struggle against drug trade and criminality in the region.

The makeup was necessary, because the activity of three large drug cartels had become more intense in such states as Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas. The drug cartels’ paramilitaries often clash with police and army.
