One of the key figures if Mexican drug trade and the only woman in the world he leads a drug cartel was extradited to the United States from Mexico. Sandra Avila Beltran, also known as ‘ the queen of the Pacific Ocean’, was handed over to American police this Thursday.
Sandra Avila who was one of the originators of drug traficking from the Pacific coast of Mexico to California, USA, and who had set up Sinaloa drug cartel was arrested in 2007 in the territory of Mexico. Now, after the extradition, she will be charged with drug use, drug storage and drug trade in extremely large amount, as well as with money laundering.
Reuters, referring to reliable sources, reports that Ms. Avila is a niece of Miguel Gallardo, the ‘godfather’ of all Mexican drug business.
However, the statistics is deplorable. In spite of the fact that since 2006 Mexican government brought its troops in border territories close to the USA to struggle against drug related crimes, the war swallowed up more than 47,000 people.
