An armed conflict between police and drug dealers took place at Don Muang Royal Thai Air Force Base.
According to a local newspaper, on 7 August local police got a tip that a secret meeting of the leaders of the two drug cartels would take place about 4 p.m. After the police checked the information, they set an ambush at the rendezvous point. However, as soon as the police launched the operation, the criminals started a violent fire-fight trying to make a gataway.
As a result of a long chase, one of the drug dealers was killed, while two others managed to shift away. Bangkok police is apprehensive about the possibility that after the incident the participants of the two criminal groupings would go into deep hiding and keep a low profile, so another chance to catch them will not come soon.
