New Olympic Champion used to be a drug dealer

14.08.2012

Anthony Joshua, a British boxer, who won the gold medal some days ago during the Olympic Games in London, was held criminally liable last year for distribution of hashish. Such messages about the super heavyweight champion of 22 appeared in western press.

Last March Joshua was arrested and charged with storage and distribution of drugs. He could face a lengthy term of imprisonment, however the judge ruled out to sentence the athlete to a year of suspended sentence and 100 hours of community service.

“That time I was one of the young men who cared most just of cool getup, fights and girls”, the boxer told the reporters.

“I was not the best man in the world. But my arrest has changed a lot. It made me grow up and realize the responsibility for my actions.”

One can only guess why British judges confined themselves to such a soft sanction towards the promising sportsman.
