Turkish drug police arrested an international group of drug mules trying to smuggle synthetic drugs from Iran to China in transit through the airport of Istanbul.
Four drug mules (two Iranians and two Japanese) were arrested in the centre of Istanbul. Accrding to the Anadolu News Agency, more than 5 kg of synthetic drugs were confiscated.
According to investigators, Japanese citizens Ootaka Shun and Matsumi Takaya purchased a drug consignment through intermediaries in Iran intending to smuggle them to Japan for sale. However, thanks to well-timed actions of the police, the smugglers are to face a long prison term.
