Cannabis plantations are found in French prisons

A fact of incredible criminal connivance on the part of the prison security on a French island Île de Ré was revealed recently. It was exposed that prisoners used to grow cannabis bushes on the plot intended for growing vegetables. The total area of planting was as big as 4.5 square meters. Its height was about 80 cm.

It’s not a wonder for French police to see cannabis growing on balconies, windowsills and in stowaway of city residents’ apartments. However, obvious cannabis cultivating within the penal institution caused public outrage.

According to Christophe Beaulieu, the leader of the trade union of penal institutions, this fact is the evidence of inadmissable nonchalance of the prison officials; henceforth officers of penitentiary system will be demanded to examine food and clothes brought to prisoners more strictly and more carefully.
