Lately the amount of Chinese drug addicts who use new synthetic drugs dramatically increased. Even those people who previously used more traditional types of drugs tend to turn to synthetic drugs.
At the moment, there are more than half a million people using such synthetic drugs as methamphetamine, crystal meth or “Ice”. This information was published in the recent annual report of the State Food and Drug Administration of China.
According to the statistics, there were approximately 432,000 drug addicts using synthetic drugs in 2010. Last year their amount increased by 118,000 people, at least.
The authors of the report emphasize that this trend is confirmed by the statistics of drug dealers’ arrests. Last year Chinese police intercepted more methamphetamine and “Ice” than heroin and marijuana in most Chinese regions.
