Two drug addicted hell-raisers are arrested in the Japanese city of Karuizawa

28.08.2012

At 7:30 on 26 August someone called to the police station of Karuizawa, Japan. Exhausted neighbours asked police officers to calm down two men who didn’t let them rest. When the policemen arrested the hell-raisers, they happened to find a cannabis plantation.

The house belonged to Isshiki Riyou, a musician of 40. It was him who used to grow cannabis in his greenhouse, violating the Law about drugs. His accomplice, Kokuda Tomkhiro, a jobless of 24, who used to buy Isshiki Riyou’s marijuana regularly, was arrested too. Initially police didn’t plan to search the house, but when one of the detainees heard the word “cannabis” and got nervous, officers decided to seek through the house.

It’s noteworthy that two days before another drug dealer was arrested there. He was accused of storage and distribution of “Ice”, a synthetic drug. This trend raises fears of the city officials who worry about the city’s image.

“The city of Karuizawa is one of Japanese sightseeings. Besides, it’s famous for its low rate of criminalization. However, we are seriously concerned if the inflow of tourists can decrease, after these incidents get publicity”, Tsuchiya Yoshiharu, the head of the city’s travel agencies, commented.
