China: criminal gang accused of drug smuggling is arrested

30.08.2012

Criminal groups have been trafficking large quantities of opium and stimulants in Jilin city (China) since 2009.  Partially drugs were smuggled into neighboring provinces. Police had arrested major members of the group by January 2012. However, their leader, Nagamori Cho, escaped in South Korea. Korean police found the offender in Gwangju city and passed him to Chinese colleagues August 17th.

This arrest is a great success and a major step forward to further cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of China and South Korea. China is planning to cooperate with other countries, including Australia, the U.S. and Japan, to fight against international drug related crimes. This year, Chinese police had already managed to solve 14 large drug-related cases.
