The Australian Government supports Transnational Anti-Drug Сontest “Maya”

24.02.2012

Recently the Organizing Committee of the Transnational Anti-Drug Internet contest “Maya” received a letter from the Australian Government. The Prime Minister, Julia Gillard welcomed the idea of contest “Maya” and expressed the willingness to support the development of our project in Australia.

The letter quotes the words of Australian Minister for Mental Health and Ageing, Mark Butler: "We highly appreciate the primary prevention of drug abuse, performed within the framework of the contest “Maya”. The Australian government is also concerned about terrifying harm caused by illicit drugs in Australian society and uses a variable approaches to solve significant social and health problems.

According to his words the National Drug Campaign of Australia (NDC) is also dealing with issues of reducing the motivation of young Australians to use drugs and provide them with the information of potential negative consequences of drug abuse.

We believe further cooperation of the Organizing Committee of “Maya” project with the Australian Government provides a strong base for promoting the ideas of the World League “Mind Free of Drugs” and the contest “Maya”. It will be a good example for other states how effective could be the partnership between country's leadership and nongovernmental social organizations as the World League.
